What we collect
When you complete the enquiry form on this site, we collect:
| Data | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Name | To address you correctly and identify your enquiry. |
| Company name | To identify the business the supply relates to. |
| Email address | To reply to your enquiry and send you quotes. |
| Phone number (optional) | To discuss your requirements if you prefer a call. |
| Area of interest | To route your enquiry to the right part of our team. |
| Your message | To understand what you need before we come back to you. |
| Uploaded invoice (optional) | To benchmark your current rates against the market. Invoices may contain your business address, meter numbers (MPAN/MPRN), consumption and pricing. |
Our hosting provider also records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This is used to serve the site securely and to diagnose faults.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare quotations. Lawful basis: your consent, given when you tick the box on the enquiry form, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us about our services.
- To approach energy suppliers on your behalf. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, and where a contract follows, performance of that contract.
- To keep records of what we quoted and when. Lawful basis: legitimate interests and, where applicable, our legal obligations.
We do not use your data for automated decision making or profiling, and we do not sell it to anyone.
Who we share it with
- Energy suppliers and generators. To obtain quotations we pass the details needed to price your supply, which may include your business name, site addresses, meter numbers and consumption. We do this only in connection with the enquiry you made.
- Netlify. This website is hosted by Netlify, and enquiry form submissions (including any uploaded invoice) are stored on Netlify's platform so we can retrieve them.
- Google. This site loads the Poppins typeface from Google Fonts. Your browser requests those font files directly from Google, which means your IP address is visible to Google when the page loads.
- Professional advisers and authorities where we are required to disclose information by law.
International transfers
Netlify and Google are headquartered in the United States, so some of the data described above is processed outside the UK. Those transfers are covered by the safeguards those providers operate, including the UK addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a contract: up to 24 months from your last contact with us, so we can pick up the conversation at your next renewal.
- Uploaded invoices: deleted once we have produced your benchmark, unless you become a customer.
- Customer records: for the life of the relationship and then for six years, to meet our accounting and contractual record keeping obligations.
You can ask us to delete your data sooner at any time.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not set any cookies, and we do not run analytics, advertising or tracking scripts on it. The only third party request the site makes is to Google Fonts, described above.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted, where we have no continuing reason to keep it;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, our use of your data;
- ask us to transfer your data to another provider; and
- withdraw your consent at any time, where consent is the basis on which we hold it.
To exercise any of these, email hello@clearpathenergy.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes affecting existing customers will be communicated directly.
